Since he was ten years old, Javier made notes for his father's clients and invoiced them. The trust within the family was so great that Javier, at his young age, was in charge of running the “errand” of the business deposits in the bank.
His father Fernando “Nando” Otero always wanted to have a sawmill and in 1977, he was given this opportunity. As in every family there are always periods of economic ups and downs, Javier's family had a difficult economic time in 1988. Javier, having just graduated from fourth year, decided to put aside his educational training and work fully with his father in the sawmill. But when God's blessing is with the family there is nothing to fear and he tells us that on one occasion there was a Pastor whom they did not know who came to him and his father and told them that he had been sent precisely to give them a blessing. This is how they received it and in a short time the business began to prosper.
Today Javier has been working with wood for more than 37 years. With it he has created furniture, tables, bed posts. The sawmill supplies many artisans who visit it from different parts of the country to acquire quality wood.
