The space
This modern home is surrounded by a large garden with tropical fruit trees and we often have extra papaya, breadfruit, bananas and salad greens to share with guests. A bag of local coffee and teas are provided with the room. We are very close to some of the best rock climbing, surfing, snorkeling, caving, and swimming holes (rivers) on the island.
The downstairs apartment has two outside entrances and a private outdoor patio surrounded by tropical fruits and vegetables. Within walking distance to the markets and restaurants of the historic Spanish town of Ciales and exactly an hour from the San Juan Airport.
Bug screens on all doors and windows allow you to enjoy the open air living of the tropics and four large ceiling fans keep the space cool on a summer day. Glass windows also allow you to shut the space for complete quiet if you desire.
We speak English, Spanish, French, and American and welcome guests of all backgrounds to stay in our home.
Other things to note
Situated at the gateway to the Toro Negro National Forest and the highest peaks on the island, the cool air that flows down the river canyon keeps nighttime temperatures 10-20 degrees less than in the city. Amazing beaches such as Playa Esperanza and Playa Mar Chiquita are an easy 25 minute drive away and local mountain swimming holes even closer.
